Understand four common maintenance misconceptions. Newbies don't have to secretly learn from old drivers

Today, car plays a very important role in life, so some misunderstandings are inevitable when repairing and maintaining a car. When surfing Internet, try to find out as much information as possible and remember maintenance process. Whether you like it or not, you avoid detours. Keep your car healthy and valuable. Today editor will introduce you to four service points.

1. Do not oil tire nuts

Do not lubricate wheel bolts and nuts with oil. During maintenance, a small number of private car owners ingeniously covered bolts and nuts with lubricating oil during installation to prevent bolts and nuts on wheels from rusting. They did not know that this practice was not only wrong, but also brought certain hidden dangers to driving safety. After bolts and nuts are tightened, they have characteristics of self-locking each other. After applying lubricating oil, self-locking ratio between them becomes smaller, resulting in lower self-locking efficiency. When vehicle is driven at high speed, bolts and nuts easily loosen or even fall off, causing catastrophic accidents.

Second, pay attention to car wash

Do not wash inside of case with water. Summer has come, and it is customary for private car owners to wash body with water, wiping with a rag. Here, I would like to remind private car owners that it is better not to wash inside of car body directly with water. Since bottom of cab floor rubber is not a "flat river", design requirements call for many grooves and through holes under cab floor rubber. After washing with water, it either settles in groove and is not easy to dry, or flows from through hole onto gearbox and other components, causing rust. In particular, cars with better sealing performance cannot directly wash inside of the body with water. The correct way is to wipe with a damp cloth and avoid direct rinsing with water.

3. Adding coolant

Do not mix different brands of coolants. We all know that when there is not enough engine coolant, it needs to be topped up on time, but have you mixed different brands of coolant? If yes, then I advise you to drain coolant as soon as possible and add coolant of same brand again. Since chemical properties of different brands of coolants can vary greatly, for example, anti-corrosion agents effective for ferrous metals are often corrosive to aluminum products, anti-corrosion agents suitable for aluminum alloys are harmful to iron alloys. . Since different brands of coolants use different preservatives, they should not be mixed.

Fourthly, be careful when starting

Do not depress accelerator pedal when starting EFI vehicle. Many older drivers have a habit of pressing gas pedal several times before starting engine, especially when starting a cold car in winter. But this way of starting is not suitable for vehicles with EFI.

An engine equipped with an electronic fuel injection device differs from a conventional carbureted engine in that its fuel injection control device can automatically adjust fuel supply according to temperature and engine operating conditions so that engine can start smoothly. i.e. with a cold engine. When starting, fuel injection control device can automatically increase fuel supply. Therefore, when starting engine of an EFI car, there is no need to depress accelerator pedal, let alone continuously depress accelerator pedal before starting, otherwise engine will not start well.
